5 Family fun night ideas
Having kids is awesome and we sure do love them, but sometimes having them around 24/7 can make us a little crazy! It's not easy thinking of new activities to keep them entertained. Luckily we're here to help our favorite people....you! We're not just about camp labels and school labels; we're about making your life a little bit easier. Here are five fun ideas to keep your kids entertained.
1. Minute to Win It Games
These games take a little prep, but create a lot of fun. While you can find tons of game ideas all over the web, Teach Mama has some of our favorite family focused mini-games.
2. Pass the Story
This game is great for those with kids who know how to read and write since it involves creating a story together. We love this game since it gets everyone's creative juices flowing. For the game, you'll need some lined sheets of paper and a different colored pen or marker for each player. Here's how you play:
- Player one writes one line of the story and only two or three words on the second line. They then fold the first line back, so that the next player can only see the two or three words on the second line.
- The next player completes the second line and then only adds two or three words to the line after that. They then fold back the first line they wrote, so that it's hidden from the next player.
- Continue doing this until the whole page is covered. Once it's full then unfold the paper and read your silly story aloud.
3. Living-room Camping
All the fun of camping with only half the work! Start by building a fort in front of your TV. Use blankets, pillows, chairs and whatever else to build you can think of. As part of your fun, try making s'mores in your kitchen and other snacks that you can eat while watching a movie in your makeshift campsite.
4. Color Scavenger Hunt
This scavenger hunt will help get your kids outside and active. There are so many fun scavenger hunt ideas out there, but one of our favorites comes from I Am Momma Hear Me Roar. This is a no mess option that helps your kiddos think outside the box. It also includes a bonus activity for little ones that might have trouble with a scavenger hunt.
5. Freeze Dance Pose
A little bit of a different spin on the traditional Freeze Dance Game. This helps get all those wiggles out! For this version of the game, your kiddo chooses a pose that they will strike when the music stops. Once they pick their pose then you can begin. The moment the music turns off... boom... they strike their pose. It's that simple, silly and fun!
Coming up with new, creative activities to keep your little ones from going crazy (and you too) is part of what we do. Whether you're organizing your home, getting your kids ready for camp, or prepping them for school, we're here for you! So, have a blast with your kids this week. They grow up so fast!
